PULSE vs ECHO: HVAC or Standalone? Two Ways to Scent 1,500 Sq Ft
PULSE is $149 and covers up to 1,800 sq ft. ECHO is $139 and covers up to 1,500 sq ft. On a spec sheet they look like the same product with a rounding error between them.
They are not remotely the same product, and picking wrong is the difference between a system you forget about and a unit you're constantly moving around.
The short answer
Choose the PULSE if you own your home and have central ducted air. It connects to your HVAC and scents every room the system feeds — out of sight, nothing on a counter. Shop PULSE — $149
Choose the ECHO if you rent, don't have ducts, or want the flexibility to scent one zone at a time. It plugs into an outlet and works anywhere. Shop ECHO — $139
Everything below is detail on that fork.
How each one distributes scent
Both use the same core technology — cold-air diffusion, where pressurized air turns pure fragrance oil into a dry micro-mist. No heat, no water, no wax. What differs is what carries that mist.
PULSE borrows your ductwork. Mounted on the supply side of your air handler, it releases into air that's already headed for every room in the house. Coverage is even by design: no strong spot beside the unit, no dead corner at the far end of the hall. The catch is that scent moves when your air moves — in a mild week when the system barely cycles, output drops. A fan-circulate setting on your thermostat solves most of that.
ECHO relies on the air in the room. Sitting on a counter or console, it scents its own space strongly and adjacent spaces well, fading with distance and closed doors. That's a limitation in a sprawling floor plan and an advantage in an open one, where you can put fragrance exactly where people gather.
Installation, honestly
PULSE requires a small mounting port in your supply duct. An HVAC tech does it quickly, and plenty of homeowners do it themselves — but it is a permanent modification to equipment you need to own. If your system is under warranty, call your installer before drilling anything.
ECHO requires an outlet. That's the whole installation.
If you rent, this section is the entire decision. Skip PULSE.
Which one disappears better
This matters more than people expect.
PULSE lives near your furnace. Guests never see a diffuser, never ask what it is, and never notice a unit on the counter — they just decide your house smells expensive. That invisibility is most of what you're paying for.
ECHO is a visible object, which is why it's designed to look like one you'd choose on purpose. But it does occupy counter space, and it does need to be somewhere the mist isn't blocked.
Five questions that settle it
- Do you own the home? No → ECHO.
- Central ducted air? No — mini-splits, window units, radiant heat → ECHO.
- Do you want scent in bedrooms and bathrooms too? Yes → PULSE. A countertop unit won't reliably reach behind closed doors.
- Do you want to scent different zones differently? Yes → ECHO. One HVAC unit means one fragrance for the whole house.
- Will you move within a year? Yes → ECHO. It comes with you.
Both run on Bluetooth scheduling, so either way you set intensity and run windows from your phone rather than remembering to switch something on.
