Two waterless cold-air diffusers, both sold as "whole-home," both app-controlled. One is $139. The other was listed at $199.99 the day we wrote this. The gap isn't just price — it's Wi-Fi versus Bluetooth, and a 500 sq ft difference in what each manufacturer claims. Here's the honest comparison.

The short version: if you want one good-looking unit sitting in a living room, the ECHO does the same job for about $60 less. If you want Wi-Fi control from outside the house, or you want one box that can also tie into ductwork, the Scentiment Diffuser Pro 2 has features the ECHO doesn't.

About those coverage numbers

Both figures are manufacturer-stated, and there is no shared testing standard behind them. Nobody audits "up to 2,000 sq ft." Two things move the real number more than the spec sheet does:

• Ceiling height. Coverage is quoted in square feet but scent fills cubic feet. A 1,200 sq ft space with 12-foot ceilings behaves like a much larger room than the same footprint with 8-foot ceilings.
• Closed doors. This is the one people get wrong. Cold-air mist does not pass a closed door. Neither of these units will scent a bedroom you keep shut. Only an HVAC-connected diffuser, pushing fragrance through the ductwork, reaches closed rooms.

So the practical read on 1,500 vs 2,000 sq ft is: both are "one open floor plan" machines. If your main living area is open and under roughly 1,500 sq ft of connected space, the extra 500 on the Pro 2's label buys you very little. If you have a genuinely large great room, the Pro 2's headroom is real.

Where the Diffuser Pro 2 genuinely wins

We'd rather tell you this than have you find out after checkout.

• Wi-Fi. The Pro 2 has Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth, so you can change settings from anywhere. The ECHO is Bluetooth-only. That's a deliberate choice on our side — Bluetooth keeps working when your router reboots, your ISP drops, or a cloud service goes down, and there's no account required. But the tradeoff is real and it's ours to own: you cannot control an ECHO from outside the house. If turning the diffuser on from the airport matters to you, that's a point for Scentiment.
• One box, two installs. The Pro 2 can run standalone or mount to an HVAC return. Our line splits those jobs across two products. If you're undecided about ducting it, that flexibility has value.
• Review depth. Scentiment's listing shows a few hundred reviews on this model, plus listings on major marketplaces. We're a smaller brand with a shorter review history.
• A louder quiet claim. They publish an under-25 dB figure. We describe the ECHO as low-noise without quoting a number, because we haven't tested it to a standard we'd be willing to print.

Where the ECHO wins

• Price. $139 flat. The Pro 2 has been listed anywhere from about $200 to $300 depending on when you look, so check the live price before you compare.
• No subscription, ever. There's no plan to join, no price-lock to protect, no discount you forfeit by not subscribing. You buy the unit and you buy oil when you need oil.

The ECHO is the wrong unit to hold up against the Pro 2's ducted mode, because the ECHO doesn't duct. What about the oil?

Both machines run on fragrance oil, not water, so the running cost is oil. Ours comes in 120ml, 200ml and 500ml bottles, and the 500ml is the best value per millilitre by a wide margin. Oil isn't included with the ECHO or the PULSE.

Is the ECHO or the Diffuser Pro 2 better for a 1,800 sq ft house?
Neither, if you mean the whole house. Both are single-point units and cold-air mist stops at closed doors. For 1,800 sq ft of actual whole-home coverage you want an HVAC unit — the PULSE at $149 is rated to 1,800 sq ft and up to a 2.5-ton system. Both of these room units will do a beautiful job on an open main floor and nothing at all in a shut bedroom.

Why doesn't the ECHO have Wi-Fi?
We chose Bluetooth for reliability: no account, no cloud dependency, nothing to break when your network does. The cost is that you can't reach the unit from outside the home. If remote access is a requirement for you, buy the one that has it.

Does the ECHO need water?
No. It's a cold-air nano-mist system — waterless, heat-free, no added humidity, no residue. Same category as the Pro 2.

Can I mount the ECHO to my HVAC?
No. The ECHO is free-standing by design. The PULSE and INFINITY are the HVAC-capable units.

What if I don't like the scent?
Diffusers carry a 30-day satisfaction guarantee — try it in your space and send it back if it isn't right. Opened oil can't be returned, which is why the $15 Sample Pack exists.
