Placement does the work ducts would have done

Put it where air already moves. A hallway junction, a stair landing, or an open living area near where people walk. Foot traffic and door swings circulate air more than you'd think, and the mist travels with it.

Give it a clear path. A floor unit pushed behind a sofa or into a corner is fighting the furniture. A few feet of clearance changes the result substantially.
