Does 200 sq ft matter?

Almost never, and here's why.

Both figures are manufacturer-stated, and there's no shared testing standard anywhere in this industry. Their 2,000 and our 1,800 weren't measured the same way, so treating a 200 sq ft difference as meaningful is reading more into the numbers than they can carry.

What genuinely moves the result in a home this size is layout and blower runtime. An open plan carries scent much further than the rating suggests; a house split into eight rooms behaves as though it were smaller. And in mild weather, a thermostat on "auto" means the blower barely runs, which affects both units identically.

So if you're choosing between these two for a 1,900 sq ft house, the coverage line isn't the deciding factor. The price is.
